Boxing club’s gym refurbishment project gets a ‘knockout’ donation

-

Leaders at a Highbridge boxing club have this week received a welcome donation of hundreds of pounds towards their gym’s refurbishment.

County councillor John Woodman met members of King Alfred Amateur Boxing Club on Wednesday (February 24th) when he handed £250 from his council community fund.

The club’s head coach Roger Cross told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are about to take on the task of completely refurbishing our gym to make more space and this will cost over £1,200, which is why we are especially grateful to John Woodman for giving us this donation.”

The Highbridge-based boxing club was founded 12 years ago by former fighter Andy Churches. It was originally based at King Alfred School and recently moved to Rickard’s Gym in Springfield Road, Highbridge.

For further details about to join King Alfred ABC, or for training times, or to make a donation of money, time or expertise call Roger on 01278 794087.

Earlier this month, Cllr Woodman also gave a grant of £250 to Titans Amateur Boxing Club, another locally-based boxing group.
