Five arrested after man assaulted on Brean beach

Five people have been arrested in Brean as police investigate an assault on the resort's beach.

A man received facial injuries after being attacked by a group of young people on the village's beach last week.

Burnham Police Inspector Roger Tolley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "There was an altercation on the beach between two groups of people who know each other and it resulted in one person receiving nasty facial injuries."

"The beat manager in Brean has acted swiftly and five young men have been arrested in connection with the incident. They have all been released on police bail until early September."

The victim, who was under 20, was taken to hospital for injuries to his face following the attack.

Police are pictured in the centre of Brean investigating the incident
