Council opposes plans for Burnham home and wind turbine

-

Plans to build a new two-storey house and wind turbine in Burnham-On-Sea have been met with a ‘thumbs down’ from town councillors this week.

Members of the council’s planning applications committee voted unanimously to object against the bid to build the proposed new four bedroom property, two-storey annexe and wind turbine at 11A Brightstowe Road.

“Councilllors decided it represented an over-development of the site, and would also be out-of-keeping with the street scene,” Councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The wind turbine would be unacceptable for a residential property, being visually and audibly intrusive,” he added.

A resident in Brightstowe Road spoke out against the application during the planning meeting, held at the town council chambers.

A final decision on the planning application now rests with Sedgemoor District Council, which will consider the scheme over the next few weeks.
