Police warning issued after ‘opportunistic’ jewellery burglary

-

Police have urged residents in Burnham-On-Sea to be extra vigilant after a burglar stole jewellery from a house in the town on Saturday evening (August 7th).

Officers were called to South Terrace after a shocked resident discovered she had been targeted by an opportunistic thief.

Inspector Roger Tolley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The victim had been cleaning her car when the burglary took place.”

“The lady had left her door open, allowing the burglar to enter the building and steal a quantity of jewellery.”

He added: “We would ask people to be extra vigilant and not to become a victim of opportunistic theives. It’s easy to get lulled into a false sense of security on quiet, warm evenings.”
