Burnham-On-Sea groups receive county council community cash

-

A Burnham-On-Sea youth club and a disabled group have received financial boosts following donations from a County Councillor’s community fund.

Cllr Peter Burridge-Clayton has given £1,000 to The Shed Youth Club and £250 to the Burnham and Highbridge Gateway Club from his community fund.

Cllr Peter Burridge-Clayton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I feel there has been some excellent work done since The Shed opened and I hope this cheque will go a little way to ensuring that work continues.”

“The staff and volunteers offer a vital service to the young people of our towns and the youth cafe has become more and more popular. The centre is run with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm which deserves our appreciation.”

He added that he is pleased to help the Gateway Club with a donation to their member’s annual summer holiday.

“I have so much admiration for all the people who have devoted their time to the club members, and made their lives so much more enjoyable. I have visited the club on several occasions and have witnessed first hand the commitment shown by so many. I hope all goes well and their summer is a good one,” he said.

Both groups have received their cheques during brief ceremonies at the town’s BAY Centre, as pictured here.
