-

One of the UK’s leading cellists will be performing a concert in a Brent Knoll church in May.

Tickets have just gone on sale for the concert by Anup Kumar Biswas, who will be playing in St Michael’s Church on Saturday, May 15th.

Ttickets, priced £10 for adults and £5 for children, are available now from Brent Knoll Shop or by calling 01278 780308.

Anup has given concerts throughout the UK, including The Royal Albert Hall, St James’ Palace, Lambeth Palace, Westminster Abbey and even at the Houses of Parliament.

He has also previously appeared as a soloist playing the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to a capacity audience.

In celebration of the 300th Anniversary of J. S. Bach in 1985, Anup undertook a tour of cathedrals, churches and the Purcell Room in London, playing the complete cycle of Bach solo cello suites.

He has also been commissioned on two occasions to write music for the Royal Gala Performance of the Commonwealth Institute and during the Centenary year in May 1993, in which he also performed in the presence of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. In February 1999 he performed again for Her Majesty the Queen and HRH Duke of Edinburgh at the Commonwealth Institute in London.

Anup is the only solo cellist in the world who is equally at home performing both European and Indian classical music and has collaborated with many reputed classical Indian musicians and dancers.

The event is being held in aid of the Mathieson Music Trust.
