Former Burnham-On-Sea club could be turned into flats

A former gentleman's club in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea could be turned into four new flats according to proposals lodged with the district council this week.

A planning application has been submitted by the new owner of the former Burnham Institute in Regent Street to convert it into living accommodation.

The application requests permission for a change of use and conversion of the property into two-bed flats and two one-bed flats, along with parking and storage.

The proposals are due to be considered by Sedgemoor District Council's planning team next month once public consultation ends on 19th October.

The Burnham Institute closed for the final time in August 2009 due to a lack of funds, marking the end of a long and colourful history for the club, which originally opened in 1892. It had over 300 members.
