20p
a week increase on council tax bills for Burnham-On-Sea
Council
tax bills in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge will rise by less than
20p a week after town councillors this week approved a small increase
for the coming year.
For
2010-11, the town council's precept demand to Sedgemoor District
Council will be £416,472, which means that of the Council
tax demand local residents will receive, the Town Councils
share for the year will be £60.99 for an average Band D
property.
Eileen
Shaw, Clerk to Burnham and Highbridge Town council, told Burnham-On-Sea.com
on Monday: "This equates to an increase of £9.51 for
the year or less than 20 pence per week."
"In
arriving at the figure for 2010/11, members of the Town Council
took several factors into account, including the feedback from
local residents at to what services they value, and also made
a provision to enable to the Town Council to have meaningful discussions
with Sedgemoor District Council and other authorities on partnership
working to ensure that the level of services valued by residents
is retained as far as possible."
The
county council announced last month that its portion of the council
tax will not be increasing in the coming year.
