Collection
of pennies raises over £180 for Burnham-On-Sea hovercraft

Dozens
of kind-hearted Burnham-On-Sea Beavers and Cubs have dug into
their pockets and money boxes to save up bagfuls of pennies for
the charity that runs the town's two rescue hovercrafts.
The
youngsters, pictured, spent weeks saving up thousands of the coins
and have handed over a total of £186.60 to grateful crewmembers
towards the cost of replacing the Light of Elizabeth hovercraft.
The
group visited
the hovercraft station last year when they were studying for
their safety badges and decided to make the life-saving organisation
their charity of the year.
Beavers
Leader Mandy Williams told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Everyone
really enjoyed visiting the hovercraft station and, as a thank
you, we have been fundraising for BARB with the Kingfisher Cubs."
"The
youngsters had great fun collecting as many coins as they could
and are delighted to see the money going to such an excellent
local cause."
BARB
Chairman Mark Newman thanked the group, saying: "BARB is
very grateful for the fundraising work of these generous youngsters,
who put in a lot of effort collecting so many bags full of coins."
"Every
penny counts - and all the money raised will go towards the cost
of replacing our smaller hovercraft, The Light Of Elizabeth."
