Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Mayoress gave a formal welcome to a group of Danish Rotarians on Friday night (September 10th).

Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club is entertaining the 18 Rotarians and wives from Vojens in Denmark as part of a regular visit by the group every four years.

The Mayor and Mayoress, Michael and Maria Clarke, were the VIP guests at a special reception and dinner at the Batch Country Hotel in Lympsham on Friday which was attended by almost 100 people.

During the evening, a presentation was also made by the club to the senior visiting Rotarian, Henning Schroder, of a 300 cheque towards the costs of treatment and eradication of tuberculosis in Lithuania.

“Rotary Districts in Denmark and Lithuania have formed a strong joint effort to deal with this disease,” Burnham Rotary Club spokesman George Moon told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
