New Burnham-On-Sea Dreamscheme group to launch in 2011

-

A new Dreamscheme youth group is to be set up in Burnham-On-Sea during the early part of 2011, with organisers appealing for volunteers this week.

Highbridge’s Dreamscheme group has been incredibly successful, recently winning several awards, and now a similar group is to be created in Burnham by officers at Burnham Police Station.

PC Matt Pearce told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Following the success of the Highbridge Dreamscheme and the positive effects it has had on both the Highbridge community and the anti-social behaviour statistics, we are keen to start a Burnham Dreamscheme.”

“In order to get the scheme off the ground, we are seeking enthusiastic individuals from the Burnham area to get in touch. Anyone interested in volunteering with the new group would be very welcome to give me a call to find out more.”

PC Pearce can be contacted at Burnham Police Station on 0845 456 7000.

The Highbridge police beat team, in partnership with the town’s Local Action Team, set up the Highbridge Dreamscheme in January 2009 in response to concerns about anti-social behaviour during the school holidays.

The scheme is entirely self-funded and is staffed by volunteers who put in a huge amount of hard work in setting up and running community sessions varying from craft making and fundraising car washes to litter picks while earning points towards treats such as trips to theme parks and other group rewards.
