Volunteers and children sign up for Burnham-On-Sea Dreamscheme

-

Over 20 children and three volunteer helpers have come forward to join the soon-to-launch new Dreamscheme youth group in Burnham-On-Sea.

Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported last week that officers at Burnham Police Station want to repeat the success of Highbridge’s award-winning Dreamscheme and set up a similiar group in the town.

Officers held an exhibition at St Andrew’s School in Burnham this week, as pictured, where three people came forward to offer their help as volunteer leaders.

“We’re very pleased with the enthusiastic response from local residents about launching a Dreamscheme group in Burnham and are delighted to already have three leaders and over 20 children interested,” one of the leaders, John Alexander, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

PC Matt Pearce added: “We are still seeking enthusiastic individuals from the Burnham area to get in touch. Anyone interested in volunteering is very welcome to give me a call at Burnham Police Station on 0845 456 7000 to find out more.”

Dreamscheme groups are entirely self-funded and are staffed by volunteers who set up and run community activities for children, varying from craft making and fundraising car washes to litter picks, to help them earn points towards treats such as trips to theme parks and other group rewards.
