Hundreds attend East Brent’s annual Harvest Home

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s MP was among hundreds of people taking part in the festivities at the annual East Brent Harvest Home on Friday (August 27th).

Tessa Munt was among the women ceremonially carrying a pudding to the event during the traditional parade at the start of the day.

Over 400 people crowded into the event’s show tent to tuck into a hearty meal and enjoy a day of entertainment, including live brass band music and fairground rides.

The historic event dates back to 1857 and was originally held to celebrate the end of the harvest as an organised event for all farmers and farm workers.

The East Brent Harvest Home is the longest-running one in the country with breaks only during the wars and in 2001 because of the foot and mouth outbreak.
