Eight arrests in Highbridge after wave of criminal damage

-

Police made eight arrests over the weekend following a wave of incidents in Highbridge.

PCs Adrian Jones and Ryan Dinham from the Highbridge police team have made the arrests after windows were smashed, a ticket machine was attacked and stones were thrown at people.

Three youths were arrested on Friday (March 5th) after they admitted causing criminal damage to windows in the town on three occasions during the past week.

Another offence of criminal damage to the ticket machine at Highbridge Railway Station has now been cleared up within 48 hours of being reported here by Burnham-On-Sea.com.

On Saturday night, a further four youths were arrested for drug offences in Highbridge after a quantity of cannabis was seized by officers.

The busy weekend for the police continued on Sunday, when a 19 year-old male was arrested for two assaults in Highbridge. The assaults had occurred in Worston Lane following a stone-throwing incident nearby.

Sergeant Ian Kennett, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I would like to reassure the local community that my team is working hard to bring offenders to justice and positive action will always be taken.”

“The public can feel confident that issues that they raise are taken seriously and offenders can expect to be arrested if they commit crime.”

“I would ask the public to help us identify anyone who throws stones at other people’s property, and not to take the law into their own hands.”
