Town councillor ‘continues to slowly improve’ after heart attack

-

A Burnham-On-Sea town councillor who has spent the past month in hospital after suffering a serious heart attack is slowly recovering, the town’s Mayor said on Monday night (December 6th).

Cllr Eric Gill, pictured, suffered the attack at the start of November, as reported here, and was rushed to Weston Hospital before later being moved to Bristol for surgery.

“Eric’s condition is very slowly improving and we all wish him a full recovery,” Mayor Michael Clarke told councillors said at the start of their monthly meeting, which Eric would usually attend.

“We send our best thoughts and wishes to Eric and Gilly at this difficult time. We are hoping that Eric will be transferred to Weston soon.”

Eric, a former Mayor of Burnham and Highbridge, is a long-running councillor who represents Burnham South on Sedgemoor District Council and the town council.

His wife, Gilly, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The support shown to me by people and groups in the town has been absolutely wonderful.”
