Two men arrested in pub car park near Burnham after fatal crash

-

Two men were arrested in this pub car park in East Brent, near Burnham-On-Sea, following the death of an elderly pedestrian in a hit-and-run car crash in Weston on Monday (November 15th).

Officers swooped on the two 47 year-old men outside the Brent House Carvery in East Brent as they investigated the fatal collision.

It follows the death of an 80 year-old man in Clevedon Road, Weston who was killed when a dark coloured car struck him and failed to stop.

Police spokeswoman Claire Stanley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I can confirm that two men, both aged 47, were arrested and a vehicle was seized at Brent House.”

Christopher Briddick from Wells was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and appeared at North Somerset magistrates on Wednesday (November 17) where he was remanded in custody to appear at Bristol Crown Court on November 24th.

The second man, also aged 47, was released on police bail pending further enquiries. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug.
