Concert gives Highbridge Festival Of The Arts a cash boost

-

Vital funds were raised for Highbridge’s Festival Of The Arts when a special fundraising concert was held on Friday (November 19th).

Dozens of supporters attended the ‘Back In Town’ Highbridge Festival Soiree for an evening of theatre, music and dance at Rossholme in East Brent.

Compered by the festival’s joint President, Chris Harris, the event included performances by pianist Richard Lennox, The Lucy Gunter School Of Dance and choral verse from St Joseph’s School.

Festival Chairman Jenny Hearn told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The evening went very well and included some super performances. We hope that a good sum has been raised for festival. When the final tally is totted up it should be over £800.”

She said the finances for the 2011 festival, which starts in March, are safe but that the 2012 festival “could be in doubt unless more funding is found.”

The 64th festival runs from March 2nd-11th 2011 at Burnham’s Princess Theatre. It originated in Highbridge in 1948 but has been held for many years in Burnham-On-Sea and attracts hundreds of participants each year.
