Firefighters were called to Burnham-On-Sea hospital on Thursday morning (January 21st) after several fire alarms sounded.

One engine was called to the War Memorial Hospital in Love Lane at 8.20am to investigate.

But Paul Slavin, fire spokesman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com the drama turned out to be a false alarm: “The crews searched the building, including the loft space, but found no sign of fire.”

A Burnham-On-Sea fire engine was also called to a car fire on the M5 motorway between junctions 21 and 22 on Wednesday evening.

Accidental ignition was blamed for the blaze, which completely destroyed the vehicle on the southbound carriageway.
