Fire crews descend on Burnham-On-Sea seafront... but it's just a drill

At first glance it looked like fire crews were attending a major incident on Burnham's seafront on Wednesday evening (June 2nd).

However, local residents were relieved to discover that the five fire vehicles and a dozen fire fighters were simply taking part in a training exercise outside Quantock Court on the South Esplanade, as pictured here.

Burnham Fire Station's Watch Commander, Dick Solomon, explained to Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We were carrying out a major incident excerise that was all part of our ongoing training programme."
