Armed Forces Day events held in Burnham and Highbridge

-

Armed Forces Day was marked in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge on Saturday (June 26th) with two flag raising ceremonies.

Mayor and Mayoress Michael and Maria Clarke led the short ceremonies on Highbridge Green in Market Street and at the Water Feature in Pier Street, Burnham.

Dozens of members of the public joined in, alongside local councillors and representatives from the town’s Scouts and Guides, Sea Cadets, Chamber of Trade and Royal British Legion.

“This is an important day in the two town’s calendars when we stop to think about the work of the armed forces at home and abroad. We are very grateful for their services to the country,” the Mayor told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The Ministry of Defence invited local communities across the UK to take part in the event, which gives the public an opportunity to show their support for the men and women who make up the armed forces.
