Popular folk group Dambuskers opened Burnham-On-Sea’s four-day Folkfest on Thursday night (September 2nd) with a great performance at the town’s Ritz Club.

A crowd of supporters flocked to listen to the group, who include ‘wild man of folk’ Steve Ruffe and fiddle virtuoso Chloe Watson, pictured above.

Folkfest Chairman Graham Cook, pictured on the right, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The first event went really well and we’re looking forward to a great weekend.”

“The line-up of acts is definitely the best and the most diverse we have ever had, bringing everyone a broader Folkfest experience than in previous years.”

Over 250 people also crowded into The Princess on Friday night to watch Show Of Hands perform a sell-out performance.

The fifth annual Folkfest continues on Saturday (September 4th) with 78 free musical acts and dance groups performing in eight venues across Burnham.

The music starts at 1pm and continues until 11pm in Chaplins, the Royal Clarence, The Railway, S&D, The Ritz, The Old Pier, Dunstan House, The Victoria and Mr Beans. The full schedule is available here.

Along with music, there will also be a craft fair in the town centre from 10am-5pm on Saturday plus workshops at the Baptist Church and dance performances outside.

Then, on Sunday, the annual Folk In The Park will be held in Burnham’s Manor Gardens from 12pm-6pm, featuring entertainment from Tiger Feet Appalachian Cloggers and live music from Dave Chave, Coracle, Fallen Apples, The Roots Union, Hobo Jones and The Junkyard Dogs. Entry will be free.
