New landlords secure future of long-running Highbridge pub

-

The future of a long-running pub in Highbridge has been secured after new lease holders took over it this week.

Sue and Chris Jefferies have become the new landlords at The Globe in Newtown Road.

The couple, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com they feel it is an “honour” to take over such a historical pub in the town.

Chris said: “The pub has a long history and although we intend to redecorate it, we’ll be making sure that the atmosphere is retained. We’d like to see more of the old regulars coming back.”

He added: “We’re planning to introduce regular music nights for karaoke and country and western fans, and also have slots for local music groups.”

Sue and Chris have lived in the Burnham and Highbridge area for 18 years and say they are looking forward to the new challenge of running The Globe, whose previous landlords, David and Benita Hicks, ran the pub for 17 years.
