‘Struggling’ Burnham-On-Sea carnival club to hold fundraiser

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club is “struggling” to raise enough cash to build this year’s float – and supporters have a chance to help it during a fundraising event this Friday (July 16th).

Hillview won its class during the 2009 carnival circuit with its colourful ‘Gee Wizz’ entry, pictured above, and it needs to raise up to £14,000 to build its new float for this year’s parade.

Mark Bishop, Chairman of Hillview, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Raising money in a recession is tough and we are struggling this year. We have strong support locally, but do need more funds to complete our cart.”

The club is holding a fundraising night this Friday at 9pm in the Railway pub in Burnham High Street where local group Riverbrew will be playing live. Tickets cost £3.50 on the night or £4.50 on the door.
