Hillview keeps carnival spirit going in run-up to Christmas

-

The carnival season may be over until next year, but that’s not stopped generous members of Burnham’s Hillview Carnival Club building this mini illuminated cart to transport Santa around the streets of the town to raise cash for charity.

The club’s members have begun a fortnight-long tour of Burnham and Highbridge’s streets, towing Santa on a mobile sleigh, while collecting donations for two good causes.

Mark Bishop, Hillview’s Cart Captain, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The icy conditions had put the tour in doubt, but we’ve wrapped up with a couple of extra layers of clothing to do the tour and have been welcomed by residents so far.”

The club hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for Cancer Research and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance over the next few days.

The sleigh is accompanied by cheery festive music to ensure residents don’t miss its visit.
