Stranded horse rescued by Burnham-On-Sea fire crews

-

A stranded horse was rescued by Burnham-On-Sea fire crews after it got into difficulty in a ditch in the village of Mark on Thursday morning (December 2nd).

Crews were called to Vole Road in Mark at 8.39am when a farmer raised the alarm after finding the animal stuck.

Fire spokeswoman Lindsay Mears told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Crews used lines, a harness and a farmer’s tractor to rescue the horse from the icy water-filled ditch.”

“Crews wearing drysuits attached strops and lines to the horse in order to rescue the horse from the ditch.”

She added that once the horse had been succesfully pulled out of the ditch it was returned to the care of its owner.
