Firefighters tackle new deliberate blaze at Highbridge Hotel

-

Burnham-On-Sea firefighters tackled a new deliberate blaze behind the Highbridge Hotel on Monday evening (May 3rd) – the fourth such incident in the town in just three weeks.

Fire crews used a hose reel jet to douse the flames and extinguish the blaze in a shed at the rear of the damaged hotel, as pictured here.

One Burnham-On-Sea fire engine was called to the scene shortly before 7.30pm after a nearby resident raised the alarm.

Police again appealed for any witnesses with information that could help them with their enquiries to get in contact via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported on another deliberate fire at the same site on April 15th.

Seperately, a fence was set alight on April 20th when a car was damaged in an attack near the town’s Bank Street Car Park.

The former Highbridge Hotel was left in an unstable condition following a huge blaze in April 2008. Work on its renovation has been progressing slowly.
