Burnham-On-Sea
student wins UK Youth Parliament election
A
Burnham-On-Sea school student will be representing Sedgemoor and
Mendip in the UK Youth Parliament.
Jodie Gregg, a Year 11 pupil at King Alfred School, has been
voted to represent Sedgemoor and Mendip in the UK Youth Parliament.
This
is the first time a student from the school has put themselves
forward to be selected, and the first time the school has engaged
in the voting process.
Jude
Atkins, Area Youth Worker, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It's
been a huge achievement not just for Jodie in a personal sense,
but for the school as well."
"Jodie
will now begin her 12 month term of office as an MYP alongside
her Deputy who was elected from The Blue School in Wells."
"At
county level she will be involved in UK Youth Advisory Group and
will be pro-active in helping to bring about positive change for
young people in Somerset through creating a strong manifesto,
lobbying, and working alongside appropriate officials."
"A
big thank you goes out to everyone who got behind Jodies
election campaign, especially all the King Alfreds students
who took the time to vote."
