Burnham students meet top paralympian at London 2012 event

-

A group of students from Burnham-On-Sea met one of the country’s top paralympic swimmers during a special event to mark London’s 2012 Olympics.

Caitlin Berry, Connor McKenna, Fabihha Tarafdar and Tim Bennett represented Highbridge’s King Alfred School at the London 2012 Student Leadership Conference last week.

“The highlight was a presentation by Graham Edmunds, a category 10 Paralympics swimmer who has won two gold medals, one in Barcelona and another in Athens in the 4x100m freestyle relay,” the school’s Sarah Mussett told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The students found him inspirational and a role model who encapsulated the aspirations of the Olympic Games.”

The aims of the day were to enable the students to learn more about the Olympic and Paralympic Games, look at the resources available to schools, and consider what they could do to support the London 2012 Games.
