Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea battled a blaze at a vehicle repair centre in Highbridge town centre on Friday night (February 26th) following an arson attack.

Two fire crews and a team of police officers from Burnham-On-Sea were called to CJK Vehicle Repairs in King Street at 8.41pm after local residents dialled 999 after spotting smoke at the car centre, as pictured here.

Fire crews rushed to the scene and found a classic Rover car alight and a second vehicle, a modern Astra, damaged.

A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com at the scene: “Crews have extinguished the blaze using one foam jet, one hose reel jet with two breathing apparatus wearers.”

“One vehicle was severely damaged by fire and an attempt was made to set a second vehicle alight but it self-extinguished.”

The blaze is being treated as suspicious by local police. A local resident told Burnham-On-Sea.com that a group of youths had been seen in the area just minutes before the blaze.
