Three intrepid Burnham-On-Sea cyclists are in training to pedal their way from Land’s End to John O’Groats next month.

Martin Rogers, Kevin Crenol and Jason Emmett are hoping to complete the 1,000 mile fundraising ride in just seven days.

They will begin their journey from Land’s End in Cornwall on July 3rd and are aiming to reach John O’Groats, famous as mainland Britain’s most northerly point, by July 10th.

“We’ll be cycling 150 miles each day, so it will be pretty intensive, but it’s something we’ve all wanted to do for some time and we’re really looking forward to it,” Martin told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Martin, who is also in training to take part in this autumn’s World Duathlon Championships, added: “We’ve not attempted a cycle ride as long as this before, but all three of us run triathlons and are athletic. We’ve been in training for several months and still have lots more to do over the next few weeks.”

Martin, Jason and Kevin will each be raising funds for three different good causes – St Margaret’s Hospice, Weston Hospice and Make A Wish Foundation.

To sponsor them, drop in to Burnham Swim and Sports Academy in Berrow Road and ask for Martin, who has the sponsorship forms.

A support vehicle loaned to them by Middlemoor Water Park will follow them along the route. It will be driven by supporter Allan Pendleton. Burnham-On-Sea.com will be following the trio’s trip over the next few weeks.
