Smoke from deliberate lorry blaze visible from Burnham

-

Thick black smoke seen here rising into the sky south of Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday evening (July 24th) was caused by a deliberate lorry trailer blaze.

Two fire engines from Bridgwater were sent to the A38 at Dunball at 4.45pm after several motorists reported seeing the smoke, pictured here.

“Two fire engines were mobilised and on their arrival, the crews confirmed that this was an articulated trailer well alight,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “Crews got to work with two hose reel jets, one main jet and breathing apparatus.”

The spokesman added that the cause of the fire was “deliberate by persons unknown.” The trailer was fully destroyed.
