Three cars and lorry collide on M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea

This was the scene on the M5 motorway this evening (Wednesday) when emergency services were called to a serious accident involving three cars and a lorry near junction 22 at Burnham-On-Sea.

Fire crews from Burnham and Weston rushed to the northbound carriageway after the serious collision near Sedgemoor Services at 7.25pm.

"One female was reported to be trapped inside one of the cars and fire crews cut the roof off the vehicle to enable the casualty to be released," a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

"Crews successfully released the female casualty from her car by cutting the roof of the vehicle just after 8.10pm."

Two lanes of the M5 were closed for almost two hours while emergency crews dealt with the incident.
