Three in lucky escape after M5 accident near Burnham-On-Sea

Three people had a lucky escape after an accident on the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea on Friday evening (December 17th).

In slippery wintry weather, a motorist lost control of his vehicle and ended up leaving the carriageway and careering into a ditch at around 8.15pm near Sedgemoor Services.

Police said none of the three occupants - a mother, child and a male driver - was seriously hurt.

The southbound carriageway was not closed during the incident. The Highways Agency was called to ensure the safety of those at the scene.
