Police appeal after two die in car fire on M5 near Burnham-On-Sea

-

Two people died in a car fire on the M5 between Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge on Friday night (September 24th).

Police have appealed for witnesses after a man and woman who were travelling southbound in a white Citroen BX were killed close to junction 23.

The car ended up on the hard shoulder on fire and caused long queues of traffic in the area.

“Police believe the car may have been travelling very slowly or was stationary prior to the incident,” a police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Anyone who was travelling at the time – around 7.38pm – and saw this vehicle is asked to contact the collision investigation unit on 0845 456 7000.”
