Historic Manor House in Burnham-On-Sea goes on sale

-

An historic building in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea has gone on sale this week.

The Manor House in the town’s Manor Gardens is being offered by agents Greenslade Taylor and Hunt at offers in excess of £285,000.

Built in 1841, the house was the home of well known Burnham resident George Reed. The Manor House and gardens were sold to Burnham Urban District Council in April 1904, then in 1974 Sedgemoor District Council took over the building to use it as offices.

More recently, the house was sold in February 2000 to the Ashfield Trust, but the gardens remained in SDC hands. The Ashfield Trust has recently moved out of the property, making it available for sale.

A spokesman for the agents told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The building provides office space of more than 4,000 sq ft but is in need of some interior modernisation. It’s a property in a very prominent position.”

Burnham’s Citizens Advice Bureau holds weekly sessions in the building every Tuesday morning from 9.30am-12.30pm.
