£360k renovation of Burnham-On-Sea's Marine Cove approved

The £360,000 project to revamp Burnham-On-Sea's Marine Cove gardens took another step forward this week when the district council approved a planning application for the scheme.

The plans cover the restoration of the wooden shelters, plus the modernisation of an existing public open space including new surfacing, a sundial feature, fencing and new street furniture.

Sedgemoor District Council has pledged £35,000 to the project as part of a Heritage Lottery Funding bid for a total of £362,900. Other cash committed includes £14,500 from Burnham and Highbridge Town Council and £16,000 from waste company Viridor.

Last June, the project was given a huge boost when it won £29,500 of 'first round' funding from The Heritage Lottery Fund.
