gymnasts scoop top medals at schools championships
of Burnham-On-Sea's Monarchs Acro Gymnastics Club are celebrating
this weekend after winning medals at the South West Schools Acrobatic
Gymnastics Championships in Sherborne.
gymnasts represented each of their schools and successfully competed
against more than 200 entrants.

gained a gold medal in the men's pairs while Connor McKenna and
Alice Dymond gained well-deserved bronze medals in the mixed pairs
Impressive routines gained joint bronze medal positions in the
under 11's female pairs for Natalie Hughes and Sian Coogan, and
Jazmine Bassett and Nicole Coogan.
Silver medals were also awarded to the over 13's group who performed
perfectly synchronized routines. They inclyded Abby McArdle, Georgia
Green, Nicole McArdle, Lily Lawson, Sophie McArdle and Lauren
And well-deserved bronze medals were won in the under 13's group
by Connor McKenna, Alice Dymond, Emily Woolley, Poppy Broom, Tallulah
Harris and Chloe Hayes.
The tumbling was very competitive this year and although no medals
were gained, an excellent effort was made by all gymnasts who
Monarchs' youngest competitors, Emily-Kay Smith and Bailey Morgan,
who are just six years-old, made the club very proud by completing
their first schools competition.
"This was the first competition of the year with fantastic
results again for the committed gymnasts who train for up to 17
hours a week," Tony Merrett, Head Coach, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
added that later this month, the club will be competing at the
South West Prelims and this will be followed by a trip to Portugal
for an international competition for the higher-level gymnasts
who will be competing against entrants from other coutries.
