Coastguards called to mudflats scare on Brean beach

-

Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called to Brean beach on Monday afternoon (August 23rd) amid concern for the welfare of two children.

A beach warden raised the alarm at 3.30pm after two boys were seen struggling in mud several hundred metres from the beach.

A Burnham Coastguard spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A team of Coastguards from Burnham was sent to investigate and found two boys, aged 11 and 14, safely making their own way up the beach on our arrival.”

“They had briefly been in difficulty and the beach warden did the right thing in alerting us as soon as there was any concern.”
