Councillor hands £250 boost to Burnham-On-Sea tennis academy

Members of Burnham-On-Sea's Nathan Edwards Tennis Academy were celebrating on Wednesday (June 16th) after a County Councillor presented the group with a cheque for hundreds of pounds.

County Councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton handed the group's founder Sally Edwards, the mother of talented young player Nathan, with a cheque for £250 towards the academy's work in helping local youngsters succeed at tennis.

Peter, pictured right with Sally, told "I am delighted to be able to allocate this money from my County Council Community Fund. This academy is going from strength to strength and producing some fine young tenis players, some of whom are already competing at County level."

"It is so pleasing to see so many young people interested in this sport and doing so well at such an early age. I would like to thank Sally for all her efforts and also everybody who helps her. It is a constant struggle to find funds to keep an academy like this running, so if there is any group or society that allocates grants within the local area that can support this club I am sure they would be delighted to hear from them."
