Police plan to launch new information pod in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Police are considering launching a new police pod in Burnham-On-Sea following the success of the one in Highbridge.

Inspector Roger Tolley, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that he would “greatly like” to launch a similar pod in Burnham.

“We are in negotiations at the moment and hope to have a police post in the town itself in the near future,” he said at the annual town council meeting.

He revealed that police have already approached Morrisons in Pier Street about this and also are looking at other nearby sites.

The Highbridge pod is based in Highbridge’s Asda car park and was launched in April 2009 to provide information and advice on a range of subjects.

Visitors have made enquiries about local Neighbourhood Watch Schemes, PACT meetings, Dreamscheme events, speeding traffic issues and crime reduction. The Highbridge Pod recently celebrated its first birthday.
