Butlins is reportedly among the potential bidders interested in buying collapsed holiday park firm Pontin’s, which runs a park at Brean.

A national newspaper has this week named Butlins as one of the possible bidders for Pontin’s, which went into administration almost three weeks ago.

KPMG, the administrators for Pontin’s, have previously said that more than 40 expressions of interest have been lodged in the business.

A spokeswoman for KPMG said they could not confirm whether Butlins is among the interested parties, adding: “We cannot confirm any bidders.”

Pontin’s is seen as a solid business and it is hoped that a successful bid will go through, safeguarding almost 200 jobs at Brean’s holiday park.

Pontin’s was started when Fred Pontin opened his first holiday park in Brean in 1946.
