Burnham-On-Sea swimming pool to re-open this week

A
huge £56,000 project to replace every tile in Burnham-On-Sea's
swimming pool has been completed and the facilities are scheduled
to re-open this Thursday (January 28th).
Burnham
Swim and Sports Academy's pool in Berrow Road has been closed
since mid-December and final work is now underway for this week's
re-opening, as pictured above.
The
Academy's Mark
Cox-Conklin
(pictured right with wife Sara) confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We were initially hoping to re-open on Monday January 25th,
but
some of the edge tiles around the pool were showing wear, so we
decided to spend a further £6,000 on getting them replaced.
This has added an extra few days to the overall job, but everything
is on track for the pool to re-open on Thursday."
"We've
already begun to steadily start re-filling the pool with water.
We'll then heat the water on Tuesday and Wednesday in time for
the start of classes and lessons."
Burnham-On-Sea.com
was first to report
in December that the Sports Academy's £330,000 extension
had been given the go-ahead by district council planners.
Meanwhile,
cheap swimming lessons will be on offer to over 50s at Burnham
swimming pool every Friday morning from January 29th. The sessions
will be running for ten weeks and are available to non-swimmers
and those wanting to improve. For more information contact Dianne
Ramsay on 0845 6434702.
