Sixteen

At
a packed ceremony held in Burnham's Princess Theatre, the King

the response to this year's competition, with five youngsters
running for the position of Queen and 21 for the role of Princess.
The
group's Andrew Bryant told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Entries were
well up on last year and there does appear to be growing interest
in the event, which bodes well for the future."
Each
of the candidates was asked a series of questions by the commentator,
followed by one question from the judges, who included Malcolm
Borland from Burnham Carnival Association, Mike Barsby from Brean
Leisure Park, Julie West from N-Hance Hair Studio and Dawn Grey
from the BEES drama group (Burnham Excellent Entertainment Society).
Burnham's Mayor and Mayoress were also there to open the show
as special guests.
