A young Burnham-On-Sea tennis player is this week celebrating success in a regional tournament.

Avenue Tennis Club member Rhiannon Parsons, who also helps with coaching at Burnham’s Nathan Edwards Tennis Academy, has won the Under 16s girls tournament at the Nailsea Junior Open.

Held at Nailsea Tennis Club, the event was attended by young players from across the region.

“She had to beat Emily Perry from Avon and Anna Lindley, also from Avon, to reach the finals, where she played Victoria Smith from Wells,” a spokesman for the Avenue Tennis Club told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It was a long match with some great tennis being played by both girls, with the end result being Rhiannon was the winner with a score of 7-6(4), 3-6, 10-4.”
