Burnham Coastguards called to help 'distressed' man in River Axe

Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called to Brean on Monday afternoon (April 26th) after a man was reported to be in a 'distressed' state on a boat.

A lifeboat from Weston was also called to the River Axe at around 4pm and the man was taken off the boat.

Burnham Coastguard Station Officer Steve Bird told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We were called to assist Weston Coastguards who were dealing with the incident, which involved a distressed man in the River Axe."

"From the banks of the river on the Brean side, our role was to help the man if he tried to get to the shore on this side of the estuary."

"In the end, the man was safely taken off his boat by a lifeboat team from Weston."
