in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge have paid their respects to a
prominent district councillor who died on Sunday (July 11th).
District Council Labour Leader Roger Lavers, pictured, died of
a brain hemorrhage - shocking fellow members.
Councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "This
is devastating news, I have worked with Roger on the district
council for many years. We all thought he was on the mend and
hoping to return to council in the near future."
was a very hard working councillor and was respected by all our
members from all parties. I am not sure Woolavington will ever
find such a committed councillor again. He will be sadly missed
and my sympathy goes to his wife and family."
Highbridge district councillor and Lib Dem leader Joe Leach added:
"Roger was a smashing guy. He worked hard at holding Sedgemoor
to account and he will be missed in the chamber."
