A motorist was rushed to hospital with suspected spinal and neck injuries following an accident in Rooksbridge, near Burnham-On-Sea, this morning (Sunday, January 24th).

Four fire engines plus police and ambulance crews, were called to the A38 at 6.55am after a car collided with a tree.

“The crew carried out vehicle stabilisation and removed the roof using hydraulic cutting equipment,” fire spokesman Paul Slavin told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The female inside the vehicle was not physically trapped but suffering from suspected spinal and neck injuries. She was successfully released and left in the hands of paramedics.”

Fire crews from Burnham, Cheddar and Weston-super-Mare attended the incident, which occurred during foggy weather conditions – although it is not known whether this was a contributory factor.
