Big Garden Birdwatch on Saturday, January 30th and Sunday January
Peter Burks, General Manager of Sanders Garden World, explained:
"The Big Garden Birdwatch weekend is designed to help raise
awareness of the RSPB and its important conservation work. The
charity is inviting people to get involved in the worlds
biggest bird survey, which provides them with a vital snapshot
of the UKs bird population."
"Anyone can join in the fun by visiting www.RSPB.org.uk and
downloading a spotting form. However, for those who do not have
access to the internet, we are offering them the chance to pick
up free bird spotting charts from the garden centre."
The annual event, which has been established since 1979, invites
people of all ages from all across the UK to spend one hour counting
the birds that visit their gardens.
During the past 30 years, more than three million hours have been
clocked up watching and enjoying the birds that visit our gardens,
and every year, some six million birds are spotted by bird watchers
During the weekend at Sanders Garden World, there will also be
displays of bird baths, tables, feeders and wild bird food. Staff
will be on hand to offer free advice to people looking for ideas
on how to encourage birds into their gardens.
