rugby club unveils £25k floodlights project
Rugby Club has this week unveiled plans for a £25,000 project
to introduce more flood lighting at its ground in the town.
club, which is based at Burnham's BASC ground, wants to purchase
three new floodlights and upgrade its existing lighting in order
to enable its members to play more in the evenings over the winter.
Club Chairman Caine Harding told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We'd
like the new lighting to be in place for November so that it's
ready for the winter rugby season, but that's dependent on us
Christmas, the training pitch is churned up and we need to use
the second team pitch for training. The current lighting for that
area is very poor, which is why we need the new flood lights."
club has applied for 'RLT3 funding' from local councils, to try
and secure cash set aside for community use by local property
councillors in Burnham have this month given their support to
the scheme, but the club now needs support from Sedgemoor District
Council to secure the money.
