Council offers tourism safety sessions in Burnham-On-Sea area

Sedgemoor District Council will be holding a free training event for caravan and holiday park operators in the Burnham-On-Sea area on health and safety issues.

The event, on March 2nd at Brean Leisure Park, is being organised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), South West Tourism and local environmental health departments.

District council spokeswoman Claire Faun told "The aim of the training is to raise awareness of the key health and safety issues facing the industry and to give practical advice on how to avoid risk to staff and visitors and to enable operators to comply with the law."

The event will provide health and safety information on risk assessments, gas safety, fire safety, electrical safety, Legionnaires Disease and asbestos dangers.

Optional sessions will also be available regarding crime prevention, swimming pool management and play area safety.

The council is offering two free places per holiday camp for a half day’s training. Places will be limited and must be booked in advance by calling 01392 353220.
